We have a lot to celebrate this year.
The Winter Dance was successful. All of the students enjoyed themselves. A big thank you to everyone who helped make it a success.
The students took their benchmark test the first part of this week and then celebrated their accomplishments. We would like to thank them for their hard work and wish them a happy and safe holiday. We would also like to remind them to complete their study packets over the break and to read every day. Each student received a little gift bag.
We would also like to thank the PTA and Mr. Carnes for creating a wonderful and inviting teacher work/lunch room. It is beautiful.
Happy Holidays to all and see you next year!
Our Winter Dance is Thursday, December 18th. Tickets will be on sale before and after school outside in front of the main entrance. Teachers will also have tickets for students to buy in the classroom if needed. Parents and students will need a ticket to enter the gym for the dance. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in Read for the Record. The book Corduroy was read to every Herrera Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten class. The students enjoyed having the guest readers, and the readers enjoyed reading to our enthusiastic students.

This has been a busy week. Thank you to everyone who came to Family Technology Night on December 3rd. We had presentations on SMART Boards, E-books, Robotics, Google Earth, HISD On-Line Resources and many other things. The pictures are posted under the Photos tab and on the main page.
Today PTA is taking pictures of students with Santa. We would like to thank all of the wonderful parents who have organized to put this fund raiser together. We would also like to thank the parents who supported the PTA's effort by having their child's picture taken with Santa.
The 3rd grade had a great time at their field trip. Please check the School Calendar page to see if your student has a field trip coming up.
Next week PreK and Kindergarten will have guest readers from HISD and the community come in and read them the book Corduroy. If you would like to volunteer to be a guest reader, please contact Ms. Flores at mflore18@houstonisd.org.
We have a busy December before our Winter Break begins. Please check the calendar for scheduled events at Herrera and field trips.
